There are eight levels all told in the game, full of tricks and traps and puzzles and prizes - and we're also told that elements will be drawn right in front of you to challenge Mario and friends even more. This single-player adventure is set up to mimic the 2D look of the Paper Mario franchise, but there are also 3D elements in the game, including deep-rendered 3D worlds behind your platformer and some dimensional activity as Mario explores the stages (somewhat like Super Mario 3, from what we can tell.) A few RPG elements are also promised, although we're not sure whether that just refers to the length of the quest or if there are in-depth character customization features of any kind. There's even a very cool callback to the DS game in that Mario can zoom to super sizes - except while in the DS game, he grows into an incredibly well-rendered character, here they make Mario into a screen-filling, overly-pixilated 8-bit character! Speaking of DS games, since Princess Peach just revealed her platformer skills with Super Princess Peach, the princess naturally is now a playable character here on Cube (she's even armed with her parasol, just like on DS.) And for a third playable character? The infamous Bowser is playable - yes, playable Bowser! Super Paper Mario (cute title, by the way) plays like a standard Paper Mario platformer, complete with block hopping, turtle stomping, and Bowser bopping.
